It makes me a little sad that Evie is out of a crib now. Owen was almost an entire year older when we moved him to a "big boy" bed. Since she's not even two we decided to just go ahead and buy a toddler bed for her so we could still use the crib mattress. Fortunately one of the two choices at the PX here was pretty cute (wooden sleigh style, just like her crib). She's been in it for a week now and is doing remarkably well. We did put a baby gate on the outside of her door so that she would stay in her room but the last few nights she hasn't even attempted to escape. She made us laugh the first couple of nights we tried to put her to bed she would say "I want Ra-Ra (translation- Owen)!" to try to get out of her room. She's talking much more now, or at least more that we can actually understand. Our girl is growing up so fast.
Today the schools were off because of parent-teacher conferences so a friend and I decided to take the kids to the Schwimmbad (indoor swimming pool) in Amberg (about 40 minutes from our house). It's great because kids under six are free and it's less than 5 euro for adults, not to mention that it's fun to swim when it's freezing cold outside and summer is 9 months away. They have about 4 different pools with slides for little kids and adults and all kinds of waterfalls. Evie is my no fear gal, which is a little scary when you have 4 little kids five and under to keep track of and only two adults. She will jump off of anything whether you're there to catch her or not. She is just like her dad so I'm sure she'll be jumping off of some cliffs down in Mexico someday. She doesn't quite get holding her breath and keeping her mouth closed yet so she probably drank half the pool today. Owen learned to swim this summer but since he hasn't been practicing much lately was lacking confidence today. Thank goodness for water wings and 2 foot deep pools. He loved sliding down the slide and playing on the seal that spits water with his friend, Keanna. By the end of the day the moms were tired and kids fell asleep on the way home. It was a fun way to spend a cold day.

I like the bed! I now know first hand the adventure Evie can bring to any event! I can now imagine that she would someone manage to jump out of her crib... It was fun, next time we should bring a camera.
I love reading about your experiences in Germany. I'm not sure if you know or not, but Matthew got his mission call to the Frankfurt Mission and will be reporting to the MTC on Dec 17 with a projected arrival in Germany in early February. Who knows, he may get to see you!
