Update continued...

We bought a zoo pass this fall and have already visited 3 times- I see many more trips in our future, a worthy investment in my opinion.
By far the kids' favorite thing to do is to feed the giraffes crackers or lettuce, depending on the day.
This guy just wanders around showing off his plumage.

In February I bought a great Groupon deal and took Owen and Evie to see the Women's World Figure Skating Championship. I thought they would like it but I could not tear them away and we stayed until the end which ended up being 11pm! It was a really fun night and one of the benefits of living in the Springs with such great Olympic training facilities nearby.

Evie was pretending to ice skate/dance in the aisles and told me she wants to be an "Ice Skate Girl" when she grows up.
A benefit of living near the Air Force Academy that also has great facilities is that BYU had 3 diving meets here this year. It was a treat to have Rand's dad come for a visit even if he couldn't stay at our house every time. The kids loved seeing him at night and going to watch the divers. We hope his schedule works out this way every year!
Grandpa stayed an extra day to play with us so we took him to Focus on the Family that has a great indoor play area for children. Grace looks a little apprehensive but she seriously loves this guy and was happy to be held by Grandpa.
Owen and Evie participated in an improvisational play with some other kids which was hilarious to watch.

Owen started attending cub scouts and was introduced by a really fun field trip to the fire station his first week. I was also called as a Wolf Den Leader and get to attend with him.

At the March Pack Meeting, Owen earned his rank of Bobcat and had his face painted. Apparently this is a tradition each time you earn a new rank. Cub scouts is a whole new world to our family.
We have had some fabulous weather lately (although it snowed today and the kids have off of school). Colorado weather can be very unpredictable but we enjoy the warmer days as much as possible and spend a lot of time at the park. Grace tried out the swings for the first time and loved it!
Evie and her darling friend love to be mommies to Grace.
This little girl started pulling her self up on things a couple months back and now walks along furniture. She's getting braver by the day, will she start walking next month?

Owen and Evie got a hold of my camera one morning and took extreme close ups of themselves and Grace. Yikes! Not the most flattering pictures, I know.

Evie was enjoying a lovely picnic dinner on one of our warm evenings last week.
Finally, over the last couple of months we have watched our new home go from a hole, to a foundation, be framed and finally resemble a real house.

We hope to move in mid-July. We know the progress will seem to slow down for the next few months but it's been fun to watch the progress so far. We are glad we currently live down the street since the kids insist on driving by almost daily.

I've been tasked with the fun job of choosing granite, tile, lighting, etc. We are so excited to finally be moving into a home that we plan to live in for a long, long time. Our nomadic lifestyle has finally come to an end.

What we've been up to...

So I realize I have failed miserably at taking a photograph a day (are any of you surprised?) My track record is not good for keeping this blog updated but I can blame that on a busy life and schedule with 3 kids:) Here is a little update on our past couple of months.

Evie turned 5 in January and had a fun birthday party with 13 of her closest friends (I'm not being facetious she really does have some great little friends, lucky girl). We were wise to not hold this in our house and opted for Mr. Biggs Little Big Town which is a great indoor play place with a bounce house, pirate ship, sand box and plenty of dress-ups and pretend play areas to keep kids busy for hours. She just learned to ride her bike with no training wheels this weekend. It's making me sad how quickly she is growing up.

I love the excitement in her face when she opens her gifts.

Miss L. was cracking me up "working" under the hood of this car in her skirt:)

Owen turned eight in February and we were lucky enough to have my dad in town for a visit.
Owen's baptism was a pretty special day for our family. We could not be any prouder of this sweet boy!
Owen and his good friend, Tyler got to share this day with 3 other kids in our ward.
The best family picture we could get with 3 kids.
All of the Grandpas!
We were so grateful of the support that we had from our parents who were able to join us for the weekend and especially that my dad was able to make it amidst his cancer treatment.
My mom, Lynn, and stepfather, Charlie.
Rand's parents, Keith & Marsha.

Earlier in January we had some snow days. We've been a little surprised that we get way less snow than Germany but it's kind of nice when it melts quickly and the weather warms up in the middle of winter. This time we got more than a foot of snow and the kids had a blast playing in it.

Grace stayed warm and cozy inside with Mama but had fun watching her brother and sister play.

This Christmas present has since been trashed but Grace sure had fun crawling through this tunnel while it lasted.
